At Sunvet Animal Wellness Clinic, we’re much more than a holistic veterinarian practice. We offer a unique synergy of conventional, preventative, intuitive and alternative treatments. And, with Ask Dr. Laurel™ phone and Skype sessions and counseling during your regular visits, we work to strengthen the relationship between you and your animal companion, which is the basis of true and lasting healing.

Having just finished finalizing our mission statement, which is the ‘heart’ of Sunvet Animal Wellness, I have one more item on my agenda. If you asked me, as Asheville’s holistic veterinarian for over 16 years, what wisdom I would impart to all of you, I know immediately what I would say. I would ask each one of you, as a partner to your wonderful animal companion, to trust your intuition when it comes to ‘messages’ you get from your furry or feathered friend.
Twelve years ago during a heated discussion with my partner, I noticed my absolutely primal, gorgeous male tabby cat, Akee, sitting intentionally with his back to the conversation. Shortly after that, I was in session with an older Redbone Coonhound, when he pointedly turned around and sat down with his back to me. He was practically sitting on my feet. Well, wouldn’t you know it, this caught my attention. (A wake up call? Much better than a 2 by 4 upside the head!) Within a week, nearly every animal I saw in session was using this endearing technique to let me know they had something to add to the conversation.
I ask each of you to be still and in observation of your animal friends at least once a day. If nothing else, you will be entertained. Even better, you may open yourself to subtle (or not so understated) messages. Because the ‘heart’ of all of this relationship stuff is listening, both to your own intuitive feelings and to what is actually being said.
Shine on,
