Hello! Welcome to Sunvet Animal Wellness Clinic. We are honored that you have chosen to partner with us to enhance the wellness of your animal companion. Please take a minute to read over our practice philosophy and office policies.
The Sunvet Mission
Dr. Laurel understands that your animal friend’s health often relates to more than just the physical. Animals are very sensitive and connected to their humans, and their health and behaviors often relate to your relationship with them. Every animal deserves to be heard and acknowledged as an individual. Often, in the conventional veterinary world, a patient is looked at and attended to as a group of physical symptoms. At Sunvet, after assessing your animal friend physically, Dr. Laurel taps into your friend’s emotional and spiritual wisdom, leading her to a truly holistic diagnosis and treatment plan.
Philosophy in Practice
We choose to look at each 4-legged friend who enters our clinic as a unique energetic being. As such, we will be with your animal companion in a physical, emotional, and spiritual way to tap into the best modalities to bring him or her into true health and wellbeing.
A thorough treatment plan usually consists of a blend of routine procedures and alternative modalities, including bloodwork, fecal or urine tests, heartworm tests, referrals for radiographs, and intuitive check-ins and animal interpretation. To engage in your animals’ healing, we may use energy healing modalities and/or a combination of other modalities Dr. Laurel is proud to offer her patients, including traditional veterinary medicine.
We will strive to the best of our ability to listen, assess, and assist in healing. We trust you, as your animal companion’s caretaker, to follow through with Dr. Laurel’s suggestions regarding re-evaluation visits, supplement regimens, diet changes, and treatment plans in order to achieve your dog or cat’s optimal health.
Initial Consults
Our initial consults are scheduled for one hour (or 40 minutes for healthy puppies and kittens). This visit is often the perfect length of time to discuss previous veterinary findings, listen to a client’s concerns, do a complete physical exam, and then engage in conversation concerning treatment, modalities, nutritional counseling, selection of supplements, and making sure every aspect of your friend’s dis-ease is addressed.
On occasion, with older or chronically ill 4-legged companions, or if you yourself have many questions, more time may be necessary. If this is the case, Dr. Laurel may ask you to schedule an additional 15 – 45 minute consult at the office or over the phone.
Appointments
We love children as much as we love your four-legged friends; however much of what Dr. Laurel does during clinic appointments requires a calm, peaceful environment. Both the energetic check-ins and examinations move more smoothly for both Dr. Laurel and your animal companion if the consult room is peaceful. This also allows you to be fully present during the session and able to focus on the process taking place. If possible, we would love to see just you and your four-legged friend. That being said, we realize that sometimes your children must be with you, and we ask that you please bring another adult or a form of entertainment for them.
We strive to keep the waiting time of our clients to a minimum. We recognize that your time is valuable. Therefore, we see our clients and patients by appointment only. We consider an appointment made to be an agreement and commitment between our office and the client. We rely on our fine clients to abide by that agreement.
If you are not able to keep an appointment, please phone our office at least 24 hours in advance. This enables us to help you find a more convenient appointment and to fill your appointment space with another patient in need.
If you are going to be more than 10 minutes late to your appointment, please call us to reschedule.
24-hour cancellation policy
If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please let us know at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time, so that we can fill your appointment slot with another animal in need.
Appointments cancelled less than 24-hours before your appointment time are considered “Same day Cancellations” and will be charged a cancellation fee equal to half the scheduled appointment fee.
Cell Phone Policy
Please mute your cell phone while you are in session with Dr. Laurel as a courtesy to the doctor, your companion, and yourself.
No Fragrance Zone
To honor all our two-legged and four-legged visitors who have fragrance sensitivities, we ask that all clients please refrain from wearing any perfume, cologne, or scented moisturizers while visiting the clinic. We also ask that clients please refrain from smoking beginning one half hour before their appointment as some of our clients and their companions have smoke allergies.
