I may have mentioned before that the animals who walk into my consult room have a curious way of catching my attention when they want to add their input to a conversation between their people and me. Most often they will turn their back to me. On occasion, I will have a dog stand in front of my chair and bark when they want to expound on a subject. Then, there are the subtle ones (usually cats) who slip under the table near my chair and settle within my personal space, just out of sight. Rarely, I will have a cat that makes a point of clearly letting me know they are deeply entrenched in what is transpiring in my room as we begin our check-in.
Ghenghiz Khat came to see me this March for what his people described as ‘fleas just love him.’ Ha! Surely, as we started our visit, it became apparent everyone (and, therefore, every little thing) probably loved this dapper and personable Tuxedo cat. He toured the room, rubbing his chin on chair legs, inhaling the the well-chewed dog toys, then efficiently bounded to my tabletop. After settling for a short time on his health record as I was attempting to jot my notes, he descended to my lap and settled himself, his back to me, in typical Buddha Cat Meatloaf style. You know, resting quietly with all four legs tucked neatly under his body, front paws folded inward. He purred through the rest of our check-in, committed to our conversation about flea control, supplements, allergy clearing and improving their water source.
Lucky me! Thank you Steve, Krys and Ghenghiz Khat for our amazing time in relationship. I never know what will transpire when I do phone, Skype or office check-ins.
