There comes a time when your animal friend’s body no longer supports a good quality of life. When the decision has been made to assist them in their transition, we offer compassionate euthanasia for dogs and cats at our clinic in downtown Asheville. To remind ourselves of the sacredness of this time, we call this transition Back to Spirit™.
We understand how challenging it is to navigate the difficult decisions that surface when the time comes to say goodbye to your beloved animal companion.
Traditional veterinary medicine offers diagnostic test results so you can make informed decisions as your friend is slowing down and nearing the end of life. But would you prefer to know what your dog or cat wants for him- or herself? Would you like to more clearly understand your pet’s readiness to pass over?
Dr. Laurel can check in with your furry friend during their time of illness to help you understand if they are ready to make the transition.
End of Life Check-ins
Dr. Laurel’s medical expertise, coupled with her intuitive deep listening to your animal friend, help you to connect with and understand your dog or cat at this sensitive time prior to euthanasia decisions. Dr. Laurel shares that, often, animal companions are very enthusiastic and direct when they are able to express their needs at this stage in life.
What Can You Expect During Back to Spirit™ Assistance?
First, you may decide to do an End of Life Check-in, either over the phone or in-person at Sunvet Animal Wellness Clinic. An End of Life Check-in, facilitated by Dr. Laurel, allows you and the doctor to be in conversation with your animal companion on a deeper, more intuitive level. Decisions surrounding end of life issues may be clarified during this session.
If it is time for your friend to go Back to Spirit, the sessions happen at our clinic in downtown Asheville, NC after 5pm. The space will be quiet, and you will have plenty of privacy as you and your animal friend say goodbye.
A sedative injection is given prior to the euthanasia injection. This allows you and your family to be in close connection with your animal friend as he or she is relaxing and becoming sedated. Because your dog or cat is sedated before the euthanasia solution is given, you and your family are able to focus on honoring your companion.
We have a relationship with Forever Faithful Pet Memorial Gardens & Cremation Center and can assist you with your cremation decision, if desired.
Back to Spirit sessions happen at Sunvet Animal Wellness Clinic after 5pm. To schedule a Back to Spirit appointment for your animal friend, please contact our office.
