We all know something about our relationships with our physical animal companions, but have you ever considered the spiritual animals that may be a part of you?
“Stories from a holistic vet” is the blog of Dr. Laurel Davis, a holistic vet and “animal interpreter” with a clinic in Asheville, NC and also offering intuitive animal health and lifestyle advice for animal companions and their human friends across the USA.

Since my work is focused on helping humans with their relationships with animals, I want to tell you about an upcoming workshop offered by local Cherokee-ancestry author, speaker and intuitive consultant MariJo Moore, called “Seeking Balance by Connecting with the Spiritual Wisdom of Animals.” Today, we asked MariJo a few questions for you about the event.
Mark your calendars for May 4, and be sure to register for the event by March 15, which is the registration cut-off. Enjoy this quick conversation with MariJo, and enjoy the workshop! If you go, please be sure to tell us about your experience. —Dr. Laurel
Sunvet: How might your workshop benefit people who have companion animals (pets)?
MariJo: This gathering/workshop can help anyone who is interested in finding spiritual balance by working with the teachings of animals, but especially so for those who have companion animals and know first-hand how they are an important part of this planet. They know that animals are here not only to provide us with joy and camaraderie, but also to teach us how to accept ourselves unconditionally.
Sunvet: Tell us more about the idea that people need the help of spiritual “companion animals”?
MariJo: As we grow spiritually and emotionally, our needs change.
Teachers appear as we acknowledge their presence, and we soon learn that what we need at any given moment is right in front of us. We may need an answer to a question that has plagued us for days and a hawk will appear, screaming at us to pay closer attention. Animals helpers can appear in dreams, artwork, songs, and even out of the corner of our eyes.. when we least expect them. We all have at least one favorite companion spiritual animal, but many will come to us in the course of our lifetimes, showing us exactly what we need to see.
Sunvet: Anything else you want to tell the Sunvet community?
MariJo: That this workshop serves to strengthen what you already know and what Dr. Laurel Davis is all about: the more we respect animals, the more we learn to respect ourselves.
